Quanterix SimOa

The Quanterix SR-X is an automated instrument designed to perform ultra-sensitive immunoassays for multiple analytes in serum, plasma, or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), offering an unprecedented level of sensitivity. Utilizing the innovative SIMOA (Single Molecule Array) technology, it employs digital immunoassays using fluorescence to detect minute quantities of proteins. The SR-X can perform both monoplex and multiplex assays, capable of analyzing up to 6 analytes per plate. This exceptional precision makes it a key tool for diagnostics and clinical research, delivering highly reliable results.

Key Features of SIMOA:

Extreme Sensitivity: With its ability to detect single molecules, SIMOA provides up to 1,000 times greater sensitivity than traditional immunoassays, allowing for the quantification of biomarkers at extremely low levels.

Wide Range of Applications: SIMOA is used across various fields of biomedical research, including neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and infectious diseases.

Full Automation: The SIMOA system is fully automated, enabling rapid and efficient sample processing while minimizing human intervention and the risk of errors.

Multiplex Detection: SIMOA allows the simultaneous analysis of multiple biomarkers, optimizing time and resources while providing a more comprehensive overview of the patient's biological state.

Precision and Reproducibility: With highly reliable results, SIMOA is the ideal tool for clinical research, clinical trials, and early-stage diagnostics.

Assay Methodology:

  1. Paramagnetic particles coupled with antibodies designed to bind specific targets are added to the sample.
  2. Detection antibodies, capable of generating a fluorescent signal, are introduced.
  3. The objective is to form an immunocomplex consisting of the bead, bound protein, and detection antibody.
  4. At low concentrations, each bead will contain one bound protein or none.
  5. The sample is loaded into the array on the SIMOA disc, which contains more than 200,000 microwells—each large enough to hold a single bead.
  6. Enzymatic signal amplification occurs with a fluorescent substrate, followed by fluorescence imaging and data reduction.
  7. Data analysis: Results can be viewed and analyzed on the system or exported to commonly used software packages or LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).

The SIMOA by Quanterix revolutionizes the field of immunodiagnostics by providing an ultra-sensitive and versatile solution for biomarker detection, allowing researchers and clinicians to obtain precise and critical information for the development of new treatments and better understanding of diseases.
